Ultra Board's honeycomb board is a rigid substrate made from a recycled paper honeycomb core with laminated paper facings of various paper grades to suit application and performance requirements.
Recycled paper fibre content of Ultra Board ranges from 20% for the FR, CR & GR variants, to 81%-84% for the MR & R variants.
The paper honeycomb for all variants is made from recycled paper with a recycled paper fibre content of 87%. We buy the recycled paper in large reels, from which we make paper honeycomb blocks. These paper honeycomb blocks are then cut to the required thickness and joined to make a continuous paper honeycomb stream for feeding into the Ultra Board Laminating Line.
On the Ultra Board laminating line the paper honeycomb stream is expanded to the manufacturing width and fed through a glue application process. The next stage of the process applies the paper facings from large reels to either side of the paper honeycomb. The laminated substrate then passes through drying and cutting processes before the Ultra Board is discharged onto pallets.
The finished Ultra Board is then packed for bulk despatch, transferred to the cutting department for cutting to clients size requirements, or the finishing department when print production or covering services are required.
Ultra Board is a range of rigid lightweight display boards that are supplied from our manufacturing site in St Neots directly to the user. The lightweight nature of Ultra Board paper honeycomb boards, combined with the direct supply strategy helps reduce carbon consumption in the transportation stage.
